Updates

Ellie:

• Is walking! She's been taking steps here and there for a couple of weeks now, but after seeing her cousin Michael walk around, she decided that she would start too.
• Has enough hair to put up in bows.
  
• Still climbing up everything.
• Can do some animal sounds - cow, chicken, duck.
  
• Favorite book - Happy Baby 123. She brings this book to us. After she hands it to us (or forces us to take it), she bounces up and down in excitement.

John:

• Can help Mommy make scrambled eggs. He cracks the eggs into the bowl, puts the salt/pepper in, and mixes them up.
  
• Helped Daddy grill hot dogs (for real this time - not on his play grill!)
• Is surprisingly good at look and find books like this one.
• Always wants to help out.
• Knows the lyrics to quite a few Mavericks/Raul Malo songs.

Ellie's night-time routine with Daddy

Ellie, like her brother before her, doesn't really enjoy bedtime. I've found something that works to help take her mind off of things and is a little learning exercise as well. I pick her up and let her touch things that are out of her reach - lightswitches, picture frames, lamps. Through this she's learned how to touch objects instead of grabbing at them, turn off the light switches, and even to say the word "touch" - all the while being excited to interact with things that she doesn't typically have access to. After a little while doing this - I dance with her a little and she's usually out pretty soon afterward.
